My name is Akbar, I’m carrying the wheel
It’s comics! It’s data viz! It’s very sad! But it’s so human! And yet as lovely as it is, it only came second in the Center for Global Data Vizualization’s refugee storytelling hackathon. What on Earth could have been better? Judges opted for the depth of Mohamad Waked’s The Unwelcomed, which also combines traditional viz with some beautiful storytelling and that decision must have been hard.
