Mushrooms and sake

Despite growing up in the country, in a land most moist and full of fungi, everything I know about mushrooms I learned from playing Elder Scrolls games. Beyond healing potions, I have no idea what a Fly Amanita might taste like or if it can kill you with its spores. There are about three words I understand in the article Large e-scale genome sequencing of mycorrhizal fungi provides insights into the early evolution of symbiotic traits, but I do like the pretty pictures. The author asks that we “appreciate [their] scientific figures as a piece of art while sipping a glass of French wine (or Japanese sake).” Happy to.
