DataWrapper’s Lisa Charlotte Rost’s brilliant essay (and associated talk) on the rules of data visualisation is an absolute must-read for anyone who reckons they’re a data visualiser, or they want to be. (Like me.) And then she gets into the art theory as a framework by which to judge data viz, and things get really exciting. It doesn’t hurt that her slides are excellent too.
